Staying indoors, stale air
Going outdoors lifts the mood, increasing dopamine preventing anxiety, if you aren’t able to get outside open the windows and curtains let in some light and air, take a deep breath of that fresh air.
Social media
Comparing your life to everybody’s highlights reel everyday is not going to produce good thoughts, it’s going to increase your anxiety levels. Instead practice gratitude, be grateful that you got up this morning, that the sun’s shining.
Situation
When I work on clients with anxiety, one of the first things I check is situation, are you having relationship issues? Does something need to change in your environment? Are you unhappy at work? Your situation can make anxiety 10x worse. Look to resolve or improve your situation.
Dehydration
If your not getting your 2-4 litres a day the brain can’t function properly and so anxiety and mood can be greatly affected. Remember if you’re exercising you need more fluids.
Junk food
Too much sugar, fried, processed, high fat foods can hamper the bodies ability to cope with stress leading to increased anxiety. Processed foods are out, fibre rich, grains, veg, fruit and fish can help deal with stressors.
Lack of exercise
Our body is a cocktail of hormones and when we get it right, we feel great, one of the hormones we need to feel good is dopamine and that gets released when we do cardiovascular exercise for 20 minutes or so. Therefor 20 minutes of exercise a day will prevent anxiety for up to 6 hours.
Caffeine, fizzy pop and energy drinks
Caffeine stimulates your fight or flight response, which can actually lead to an anxiety or panic attack.
Lack of sleep
Lack of sleep can actually lead to you developing an anxiety disorder, your brain is unable to function correctly when deprived of sleep. 8 hours is what we should be aiming for, if you aren’t getting sleep try using my FREE sleep session, 1 hour of hypnosis is as effective as 4 hours of sleep!
The hangover
The hangover is a nasty mix of lack of sleep, too many toxins, dehydration etc and can leave our mental state in a bit of a terrible state. This obviously gets worse if you made a fool of yourself, or got drunk to drown your sorrows. Sorrows come back threefold in an anxiety hangover.
I’m not saying don’t drink, as my mother used to say everything in moderation!
Over thinking
The number 1 main cause of anxiety is Over or negative thinking.
Most people think that overthinking is a symptom of anxiety, this is not the case, it is the main cause!
When we have a thought we instantly release hormones into our nervous system, so when we have negative thoughts we release adrenaline and cortisol, leaving us with the shakes, sweating, shortness of breath, a sick feeling etc
If we have good thoughts we will release cortisol making us feel happy, so DELETING negative thoughts and replacing them with enabling, productive, positive thoughts will eliminate anxiety, it actually can’t exist if you are thinking positive thoughts.
If you need help DELETING those negative thoughts have a look at my anxiety packages, this is where my speciality lies, I install positive, productive thoughts as a new habit, leaving you virtually anxiety free.
