The secrets to motivation.
We all experience a lack of motivation at times and there can be number of reasons for that lack, firstly start by asking yourself the following questions:
Is this the direction you are truly meant to take?
Sometimes we are just on the wrong road, we took the turning because, we thought it would be great, we thought we’d like it, because our parents said it was the best option. Whatever the reason if you are on the wrong road, then a decision needs to be made, get some coaching to help you discover where you are and where you need to be going.

Is there any inner conflict (apart from procrastination) preventing you from taking the next step?
Sometimes, new information comes forward creating cognitive dissonance, if the direction you are going is against one of your core beliefs, you will feel a pull away from it.

Are you scared of anything?
Sometimes we can have a fear of failure, fear of success, fear of putting your head above the parapet. At times some of the actions towards success are scary, you may have to do things you haven’t done before drill down until you find the exact thing you are fearful of, then you can deal with it.

Are you sabotaging your success?
Very often we sabotage our own success for reasons which we are not consciously aware of. Self sabotage is caused when our subconscious mind wants to direct us away from a pain we have experienced in the past. You will just recognise a pattern of avoidance behaviour.

12 Steps to consistent motivation:
- Know your WHY. If you want to stay motivated your why, should be strong passionate reason for moving forward. Explore what your why is, get back to the painful truth then remind yourself of that reason often.
- Know your motivation direction. Do you work towards pleasure, or away from pain? Most people think they work towards pleasure because they want nice things (We all want nice things Sandra) If you are a saver, you complete work well ahead of deadlines then congratulations, you are amongst the elite you work towards pleasure, create a vision board and you will be away. If however you’re in the 60% (it had two be me) that work away from pain then you need to set a fire behind you.
- Planning is a major part of motivation. Making a clear and detailed plan will help you move forwards. The key is to break your plan down into small manageable actions. The first step might be to open a document and start to collate ideas. If you fail to plan you plan to fail.
- Have an attitude of Intention. If you intend something to happen, it has a greater chance of happening, think about the situation/meeting/event that you are going to and set a really strong intention and just expect that it will happen.
- Believe you can. If you don’t believe you can do it then it’s highly unlikely to happen for you, belief is one of the major factors where motivation is concerned. Luckily belief is just a thought you have consistently…Read that again and let it sink in…which brings me nicely onto…
- Affirmations. Affirmations are just a fluffy word for programming your subconscious mind. Affirmations are a list of ‘I am’ statements that give your subconscious mind a clear direction in which to go. Done first thing on a morning and last thing at night they become a hypnotic command and your SC will then work happily in the background moving you towards making these statements true.
- Productive mindset. I don’t agree with the ‘positive mindset brigade’ there isn’t aways a positive however a productive mindset however will get you where you want to be. “How can I make this happen?” “How do we overcome this.” Along with deleting the negative or poor thinking, your mind can assist you if programmed right.
- Read and listen to positive information. If you fill your mind with uplifting and inspiring information, it will keep you motivated. Go to the bookstore or library today and find at least one book on a positive topic that will give you a boost. You need constant reminders telling you that you are capable of achievement.
- Avoid energy drainers. You feel great on top of the world, thinking about world domination and you speak to Sandra and she’s already tried that and it didn’t work, then your gran tells you to get your head out of the clouds and get a proper job. Before you know it you can’t remember why you were doing all this.
- Celebrate small victories. Your celebration maybe a tea break when you finish a piece of work, or if your really pushing the boat out a jammy dodger (other biscuits are available)
- Support Network. The seed of success can only grow in nourishing surroundings, make sure you have a network around you of productive people, preferably people that are doing better than you.
- High quality thoughts. flooding your mind with high quality thoughts will cause you to produce more positive results in your life. Right now you’re getting as many opportunities as you think you can have. You’re making just the amount of money you really believe you can. To break into making what you’ve only dreamed of and wished for, you must start thinking, believing and speaking like you’re already worth that amount! Purposefully infusing your life with a positive perspective will keep you motivated and eliminate all negative sources out of your life.
